In Our Name, In Our Mission: The Five Virtues That Guide Us

It all began, as many great things do, with a simple dream. A dream of bringing more—more depth, more authenticity, and more connection—to the content available for the South Asian community. For too long, we felt our stories were being told by others, or not told at all. That dream started to spark into reality as a team began to form, united by this shared passion.

We sat around a table, the air buzzing with excitement and possibility. We were ready to build, create, and serve. But first, we needed a name. This was more than a branding exercise; it was about defining our very soul. We knew one thing for certain: we did not want to be just another company. We wanted our name, our ethos, and our every action to be rooted in something meaningful and timeless.

That’s when we turned to the pillars of Sikh virtue. We decided that our foundation would be built upon five profound principles: Daya, Dharam, Himmat, Mokham, and Sahib.

These concepts are the bedrock of our mission, But what do they truly mean?

The concepts of Daya (compassion), Dharam (righteousness), Himmat (courage), Mokham (unwaveringness), and Sahib (sovereignty/mastery) represent foundational pillars of the Sikh faith’s ethical and spiritual framework. These terms are not merely abstract ideals but are meant to be lived virtues that guide a person’s actions and shape their character.
